“On Catholicism and Scientific Atheism”

Image

One day, a Catholic priest walks up to a scientific atheist and asks, “How do you know that the sun is bigger than the earth?” The scientific atheist responds, “I use certain tools: telescopes, computers, and mathematical equations. Have you never used them?” The priest answers, “Now that you mention it, I don’t think that I have.” The atheist suggests, “Well, I think that you should. And, by the way, how do you know that God exists?” The priest chuckles and says, “I have certain tools: the sacraments, philosophy, and prayer. Have you never used them?” The atheist smiles and thinks aloud, “Now that you mention it, I don’t think that I have.” The priest concludes, “Well, I think that you should.”
