Prayers for Souls

This afternoon at tutoring I was assigned to work with one of the kindergartners. We read a short book about a family. As we read, I would ask the student whether or not he understood what each word meant. He knew grandmother, grandfather, mother, father, and sister. On the last page we arrived at the word brother. I asked the little boy whether or not he knew its meaning as I had before with the other words. He said, “Yes. I have a baby brother, but he is in the hospital. I cry for him every night. He keeps coughing and won’t stop.” I could tell that the little boy was deeply troubled. Please pray for the health of this kid’s brother and for the emotional health of that entire family. The season of advent never ceases to surprise the faithful with tidings of comfort and joy!
