Even the Darkness Will Not Be Dark to You

“If I take my wings early in the morning,

and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea:

Even there also shall thy hand lead me:

and thy right hand shall hold me.”

–(Psalm 139:9-10)

On Monday morning (4/20/15) I’ll begin a 30-day period of wandering throughout the United States. I’ll leave my home in St. Paul with a one-way bus ticket, thirty-five dollars, and the Spirit of God to guide me. My initial destination is Rexburg, Idaho. I’m not sure with whom I’ll stay (if anyone), what I will eat (if anything), or why God is leading me there exactly (if I ever will). However, in some mysterious way I trust that I will be in the hands of our Lord. Please pray for me as I journey. May God bless me with many stories to tell about His providential love when I return.

Best wishes,
David J.W. Inczauskis, n.S.J.

P.S. The following will be my prayer for the journey. It applies to my circumstance, but also to all:

As I take my wings early in the morning,
as I dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea,
as I travel in the darkness of the night,
as the light of day blinds me,
Your hand holds me fast;
For You have protected me from my mother’s womb,
for You have pulled me free from the snares of the devil,
for You have chased me to the fringes of the earth,
for You have cleansed my soul of former iniquity,
so that I might praise You here.
How can I help but give You glory,
O, Unmade Light,
O, Gracious Victor,
O, Eternal Wellspring,
O, Hidden God!
