Morning Offering Prayer for November: Consecration to Jesus through Mary

Recently at the Jesuit novitiate in St. Paul, many of us have begun the journey towards consecration to Jesus through Mary. The basic idea is as follows: as Jesus came to us through Mary, so we can come to Him through Mary, whom He appointed to be our Mother (see John 19:26). Of course, we are not worshiping Mary; worship is for God alone. However, we do trust in the power of her intercession. Who has more sway over someone than his or her mother (see John 2)?

To further move along in this devotion, I’ve written a short morning offering prayer that I’ll say for the next month to prepare for consecration in December:

Morning Offering Prayer:

Thank you, my friend and my Lord, for giving me another day of life. I return it to you–all of it: the joys, the sorrows, the prayers, and the works. I make this offering through the Immaculate Heart of Mary, Spouse of the Holy Spirit, to the praise and glory of the most Sacred Heart, Your Heart.

Blessed Virgin, my Mother, accept my gift of this day for the sake of the causes dearest to you and to your Son. You are my everything, and Christ is your everything. Thus, may our hearts beat as one, in union with the Holy Father, his intentions, and the whole body of the Church. Amen.

May God bless you! I cordially invite everyone to use this prayer or one similar to it. Morning offerings orient our entire day towards reverence of God.

Best wishes,
David J.W. Inczauskis, n.S.J.
